Leverage Is The Key To Building Business Profits

90% of the people I know who are focused on building business profits think of doing most of the work themselves and the remaining 10% who have addressed leverage do so by hiring employees or virtual resources.  None of these options would allow me to achieve the business plan for Tampa Capital Partners.

I am a business coach and consultant.  My plan is to continue providing those professional services.  They help me continually expand my network of increasingly successful people.  “Your network is your net worth” as I have heard many times from JT Foxx is absolutely true.

As my network expands I see the key reasons for businesses success. Those are:

There are more factors however. with those two in place your chances of success are greater than 90%.

Do I have a coach? Absolutely!  That is the key action step I took going into 2011 and my mindset has shifted far beyond what I had imagined. Leverage Being The Key To Business Profits

I decided to aggressively develop Tampa Capital Partners.  I knew I needed resources to do that. I decided to use a pay for performance model since I was not interested in simply paying people for tasks. I intend to develop a team of people who are very success oriented and see the synergy that develops when the pieces and parts come together.

Not long ago I published an article in support of my idea of  the Tampa Capital Partners Apprentice Program Just weeks later as a result of networking for team members, there are six people being trained on detailed tasks that are required to build real estate property leads, evaluating deals , submitting offers and closing deals. All of this is progressing while I am often thousands of miles away for 3 or 4 days out of the week.

I am now beginning to coach select clients on how to develop their own apprentice model and soon I will be publishing specific examples of transactional success.

7 Figure Success in Less Than 1 Year

Near $0 One Year Ago…On Track To Make $1 million This Year

6 out 0f 10 People who  were at near $0 business profits in the spring of 2010 are now on track to net more than $1 million in 2011.  Quite honestly when I realized what was developing I looked very closely at the characteristics of this group.

The iPhone, ATT, Verizon : Great Lessons What Is Your Experience

The iPhone Is Coming To Verizon …Very Soon

The Wall Street Journal’s  lead article Friday confirms Verizon will offer the iPhone soon. Reportedly Verizon will announce the details Tuesday.

In a related article, Apple has issued a directive to all stores that there will be no vacations for three weeks beginning the fourth week of January. I couldn’t be happier with the opportunity to switch from ATT My view is shared with everyone I know who has an iPhone

The Number One Reason This Announcement Is A Big Deal

Everyone that I know including myself loves the iPhone and hates ATT’s service.  Apple recognizes this since a big percentage of the volume of calls to their customer service center are because of ATT not resolving customer issues having nothing to do with Apple.

I have previously written detailed article about my  experience started trying to work with ATT for a solution. In summary, I have good experience overall across the US and Canada. The area that I use my phone the most which is my home office and surrounding areas is almost impossible for me to use my phone. This area has plenty of towers and ATT reports I should have great service but of course I don’t

This announcement is a huge deal because it demonstrates Apple’s laser beam focus on customer satisfaction and highlights in my view ATT’s mishandling an iPhone market domination opportunity.

Lessons: Apple Strategy Outstanding,  Verizon Strategy a Plus  ATT Strategy Doesn’t Work

I have experience with both Verizon and ATT. Recently I tested another phone with Verizon and I was very pleased with the entire experience including the attention at the Verizon owned store,  customer service, billing and phone service.  The only reason I didn’t changes was that at the same time I was testing a new phone I read Verizon would be carrying the iPhone and I wanted to wait.

Apple has done a great job of developing strong customer loyalty.  I am sure there are people who have given up their iPhone to switch to another service after being worn out by ATT but I don’t know any of them.  Everyone I know who has an iPhone wants to keep it.  Apple understands what will appeal to the consumer and consistently delivers.

Verizon has been out there focused on offering a very strong cellular network.  Every Verizion customer I know is happy with Verizon service and coverage….No Exceptions! My brief experience with the store staff, customer service and tech support was very positive.  Verizon is  focused on solutions and not excuses.

Verizon and Apple Together Should Be An Outstanding Experience For Consumers

This all makes for an excellent case study on how ATT  did not capitalize on a huge opportunity. If they had consistently delivered on quality of coverage and customer care, Verizon would not have a chance.  Now Verizon has the opportunity to take huge market share.  I betting they will.

Great Think and Grow Rich Advice From Tampa Bay No B.S. Marketing

We’ll, it’s here. The last day of the year 2010.

How was it?
Have you accomplish everything you wanted to?
Did you have any successes, or
“Learning experiences”?

Why don’t you take few minutes and write down everything you’ve accomplished
and also make a list of things you wanted to accomplished but for one reason or another didn’t (use that list for 2011)

The great news is that when you wake up tomorrow, you’ll get to wipe the slate clean, reset the clock and start fresh.

As of tomorrow morning you’ll have another year, or 52 weeks, or 365 days, or 8760 hours, or 525,600 minutes to reach your goals, so make it count.

When I woke up this morning at 5:00, picked up Think and Grow Rich for the 3rd year in a row and read the first 2 chapters, I finally realized why all the successful people I know read this book year after year after year.

Even though it’s the 3rd time I’m reading it, it’s like I never read it before, or maybe I just wasn’t ready to receive the information until now, but I just couldn’t put it down.

If you have this book on your shelf collecting dust, I recommend you find it right now and start reading it. If you don’t have it, I found a PDF of it and attached it to this email for you.

Here is a short excerpt from page 35-36 that I thought would be very helpful to you:

“Every human being who reaches the age of understanding of the purpose of money, wishes for it. Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession,
then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.

The method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps, viz:

First. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient merely to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter).

Second. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as “something for nothing.)

Third. Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

Fourth. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Fifth. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

Sixth. Read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. AS YOU READ–SEE AND FEEL AND BELIEVE YOURSELF ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MONEY.

It is important that you follow the instructions described in these six steps. It is especially important that you observe, and follow the instructions in the sixth paragraph. You may complain that it is impossible for you to “see yourself in possession of money” before you actually have it. Here is where a BURNING DESIRE will come to your aid. If you truly DESIRE money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you will have no difficulty in convincing yourself that you will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you CONVINCE yourself you will have it.”

Anyway, enjoy the book, have fun celebrating everything you’ve achieved in 2010 and when you wake up tomorrow, hit the ground running and make 2011 the best year ever.

Social Media Synchronicity or A Blueprint For Building Profits With Social Media and Internet Marketing

There are many moving parts in the social media world and they are expanding exponentially as entrepreneurs and business giants develop tools capitalizing on the rapidly increasing numbers of people using social media resources to communicate and promote.

In 2009 I launched my first successful venture built entirely using social media resources. This means that I developed connections on key sites including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. I built awareness of my business by delivering valuable free content with the promise of more in-depth information for those who joined my membership site. I did almost all the social media building myself with the help of some automated tools for growing Twitter followers. In doing that I realized how much work was involved in building a social media network the right way and concluded most people would not do it. Synchronicity

Local Search and Marketing

For most people, thinking in national or global terms for on line marketing is common. Local marketing seems to be confusing for many but it there are really few differences.  All the foundation tools and accounts are valuable for most local businesses.  The issue seems to be one of understanding. Local business owners often do not have the time to stay current with marketing opportunities and if they do then they do not have the time.

There is a huge opportunity for people to help local business with marketing. The problem with that is there are very few people who really understand market in relation to the number of businesses that need the help. So you have people promoting products and services to business owners who are not skilled and experienced.

I am beginning to recruit people who want to work with me and where I will show them the step by step process of how to introduce business profits building marketing to businesses and then coordinate the implementation with my company’s staff at New Digital Media, Inc. Return on Investment (ROI)

I only offer clients what they need to get started and make incremental profit.  Companies need to see an ROI before being asked to invest larger amounts.  With any business, including locally owned and operated businesses, a domain name and at least a basic website with contact information is essential. That way they can register as a company and come up on local search with engines like Google.  Once that is in place then I want to address ways to build traffic to the site, build a list and build business.

The Wisdom of Dr. Nido Qubein

Nido is the President of High Point University.  He is also the majority shareholder of Great Harvest Bread Company and board member for 15 other companies.  Nido coaches JT Foxx and several other people I know personally including a coach I work with and a very successful JT Foxx student partner who I have been coaching for nearly a year.

The Top 3 Most Valuable Lessons For Success

  3. “Learn, Earn, Return”  An inquisitive mind is one that is growing in knowledge.  Applying what is learned to the experiences we want is earning.  Returning to others in the form of teaching and helping less fortunate results in experiences of peace and happiness we were not expecting.

The US Deficit: Look To What Is Working Plus Fix The Housing Market

The Solutions for Insane Deficit Levels Are There:

The Wall Street Journal published a story on November 27th titled “As Business Goes So Goes Utah”  The story pointed to the economic trends in Salt Lake City being opposite the decline or no growth being reported in many parts of the US and actually the world.  A primary reason for the positive economic conditions in Salt Lake City is the city’s favorable tax incentives for businesses to locate there and build new plants, research centers and headquarters. The result is jobs and jobs mean people make money and spend. Consumer spending fuelsl more than 70% of  the economy.

Obama and congress are now beginning to talk about the deficit. I wonder why this has been largely ignored. Since Obama  has taken office there has been enormous deficit spending.   What’s done is done so the focus should be on solutions. One solution is to substantially cut the administrative burden of the government on small businesses and citizens. This means eliminate regulation hampering business productivity. This also means change the regulatory compliance requirements so banks either begin loaning money to credit worthy companies or they lose their  charter.  A serious commitment to cutting government spending which also means cutting the size of government is one step. A constitutional mandate for a balanced budget is another step. Elimination of all non-essential government regulation is another step.  Get government out the way and let free enterprise work.

Underwater Real Estate Values

Real estate valuations are a big problem.  Foreclosing on homes where the occupant can afford to pay a lower amount in rent and could pay the same on a reduced mortgage balance makes no sense.  Think about it. Let’s say  a home owner has a mortgage for $300,000 on a home now valued at $200,000 by the market. Assume the payments are $1600 per month currently. If foreclosed the bank will have to take a lower purchase price on the house and since investors need to make  a profit and there is likely renovations needed then the settlement with the bank could be $150,000 or less.  It  is clear there will be a mark to market on this property by the bank and the property’s note reduced for the occupant.

There are note buyers interested in buying the paper from the bank. Banks should be encouraged to negotiate these “mark to market notes now” so the process of relieving the burden of those “underwater” with their mortgage can be accelerated. This solution results in the current homeowner being able to stay in their home with lower payments on a reduced mortgage to an investor. The investor is satisfied because they are receiving above average rates of return and the bank is actually better off in most cases because the cost of missed payments and preceding on foreclosure is avoided. This solution should be aggressively pursued.

The basic tenant is spending at the national level and personal level needs to match income and the less burden placed on the citizens the more invigorating the economy will become.  “So Goes Tax and Spending, So Goes Business and The US”

10 Times Increase in Net Income In One Year

When I asked the question as to the income this client expects to bank this year the answer was $300,000.  That is a very good number for an individual working from his basement office with one employee.  I already knew this was his first year working full time on this business and that he had been working part time on this business in the previous year.  He had no experience in this particular business (real estate investing) prior to two years ago.

I have been coaching him by phone for about 2 months and then we scheduled a day and half session on site at his office location.  During dinner the first day, I asked him to be prepared to finalize a game plan the next day for building his gross income next year to $6 million.  Now going from $300,000 to $6 million and actually a net closer to $3.5 million is quite a leap and I normally would not implement that aggressive of a plan with most clients.

This client was different. I already experienced his “action attitude”  he was in motion everyday on networking and deals that converted into a growing list of funding partners (people with money to put to work) and people sending him profitable deal opportunities.  He was successfully implementing the coaching guidance on focused networking.  He was and still is missing a management system for taking his business to the level I could see that was possible.

The number one issue anytime I work with client  on a model for increased revenue and profits is mindset.  If they don’t believe it there is nothing anyone can do or say that will turn the idea into reality.  In this case, there was not instant acceptance of my $6million plan.  However, he asked me how I arrived at that number and I told him.  He nodded his head and said alright “let’s do it”.

The exact strategy was developed the next day and included defining the niche markets he would pursue as well as the overall profit to be generated by each niche. That work resulted in him being able to see the results happening. It  became believable for him.

Will he achieve performance targets of this plan?  No….he will beat them.  Just two days later he text me at 6AM in the morning with “we need to talk”.  Close to 7 we were review an opportunity for  deal that has he potential for a for $500,000 profit before the end of this year.  In addition I looked at another deal with him yesterday and that one has a $500,000 potential by the end of this year if he flips it or an excellent rate of return if he keeps it.  I could go on but my point is this client has transformed himself into a deal and money magnet.  Does he have any special skills?  He is an effective communicator and he follows the direction of his coach.

1. Know your customer!  People coming thought the door and buying should be acknowledged with an email or card and possibly more. How do you do this?  You need to have their contact information and specifically an email address and now ideally their cell phone number.

Here is an idea on how you do that: Buy them a drink or a dessert in exchange for their information.  Here is the key: when you identify a particularly important person, the owner comes to the table, welcomes them and offers to buy their dinner in exchange for the cell phone number so they can be alerted for a very special event. Now before you say this ticket could be $200 or more I ask you how worth it is to have the cell phone number for key text messages with VIP’s and I mean people whose net worth is in 8 figures. This is huge

2. Have a plan. Your financial plan should be an annual target that can then be detailed to a weekly plan.

3. Know your numbers. Traffic and sales by time of day. Track your trends. Use this information to market to your list. Invite them to slower times using incentives.

4. Use all proven marketing tools to help grow your business. These include direct mail to targeted zip codes and ads with a “hook” in publications your target customer reads and other venues like radio, participation at key charitable events, local/regional festivals that are for your target audience, on line promotions and more.

5. Have your on line credibility in place meaning a website and social media presence

6. Use a referral marketing system. Reward people for inviting their friends and colleagues.

7. Monitor the variances from plan in all areas of your business. Nothing is excluded: payroll, food costs, utilities….the gold is in the detailed analysis of the variances.

Now You Know…Success Is In The Details.  Failure is almost always a result of not consistently following the steps that have been proven to lead to success.

How To Prepare A Practical and Powerful Executive Summary – An Essential Tool For Your Business

Relationships are key to building your business regardless of your industry. An Executive Summary is an essential tool in developing relationships.

You Need An Executive Summary for Your Business Even If You Never Hand It Out!

Having worked with hundreds of business owners and hundreds more of business executives and managers, across the board, very few are able to clearly state what business they are in and what they are looking for.  Every business owner and business leader is looking for something and nearly all are looking for more than one thing that will help take their business to the next level.  In many cases it is funds for growth and expansion. Often it is new sources of products and services. Nearly always leaders are always interested in meeting people who could be business partners, joint venture partners or valuable employees.

We can only get what we want when we have clearly defined what we want and clearly defined what is in it for the other party. I am currently coaching a number of people in the process of building their real estate investment business. An effective Executive Summary is right at the top of the list of what we work on at the start of the executive coaching process.  Candidly, it is this work that has helped me see the value of executive summaries properly prepared. I have used the techniques being taught to real estate investors and applied them to a rather large privately held construction company that is looking for equity capital to support much larger jobs.  The element of an effective executive summary apply to any industry and any job.

The “Must Have” Components of An Effective Executive Summary

1. A clear definition of your business with an emphasis on your unique selling proposition.
2. How your business clearly benefits your customers or in the case of real estate investment how your strategy benefits funding partners, sellers of real estate and buyers of real estate.
3. Examples of properties (or products/services) in support of what is in it for those you are developing relationships with. Innaclude proforma calculations of share of profits or other relevant calculations for your business.
4. Your picture and bio. Note if you are new to your business your bio should emphasize your network definitely never say you are new. Rather than disclosing just starting this venture, you could say you have been studying the markets and networking with experts so as to avoid the pitfalls that have been experienced by others in this industry.  Then indicate you have developed the going forward success strategy with several of the key success factors being: 1.____________ 2.____________.
5. Key contact information: Your name again, phone, email, website, blog, addresses for Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter

All of this can be done in two pages, not crammed and professionally presented.

What Is The Point If You Never Physically Hand Out Your Executive Summary?

First of all if when properly completed and if you are networking, there will be people who are interested in this document. If you are not networking your business is likely to struggle.  Remember the first point of this article which is success is directly proportionate to the quality of your relationships.

However, regardless of how frequently you physically deliver your executive summary, completing it will prepare you for more effective verbal presentations on what is your business, what you near term goals are and what is in it for those that help you.

Fast Start To Success With The Accelerated Accountability System

As a business consultant and coach I continue to work with people every week teaching and helping them implement the skills and action steps I know work.  My experiences being employed in very successful organizations, consulting with companies across numerous industries as well as running my own businesses have shown me certain fundamentals are pervasive in companies that are successful regardless of size.

The number one attribute that I find in everyone who achieves continually expanding goals is a disciplined focus of their attention on purposeful action. This means that with any goal there are certain steps that are needed if that goal is to be achieved.  For example in the real estate investment business where the model is to buy property, add value and resale the property, there needs to be a supply of the right deals, a supply of money for the initial purchase plus renovation and then money from an end use buyer.  Intellectually you can understand this formula but to turn the formula into profit there must be action. If you short cut the steps including the analysis there may not be any transactions or if there are, the profit you projected can be elusive.

Name a goal and the steps to achieve that goal can be mapped and once followed the goal will be achieved. This doesn’t mean the exact course is predictable. Taking action on anything is no different that what we experience in say traveling across town or the country. The route is mapped but the experiences can be surprising. When we encounter a delay or cancellation, we move around or through it. Business is no different.  Enjoy the process or get out of the game.

So what does all of this have to do with Fast Start To Success With The Accelerated Accountability Program?  I will use a recent example with a lady who I coached in front of  a live audience at a JT Foxx 360 Millionaire event. Her mission was to become a successful real estate investor and she had done  a great job of clearly defining her income goals and time line for earning that income. I challenged her on the amount and time line as they seemed somewhat aggressive considering her experience. However, she supported the amount and timing very well so they remained in tact.

Next I asked her how much time she had to devote to her business and she replied at least 50 hours. Given that I then asked her if she was committed to following the action steps necessary for her to take to achieve a successful transaction in 90 days or less. She said she was. With that response we were now able to move to the next phase which was to detail the steps she needed to take on a daily basis to achieve her goal.

These steps need to be planned by day so it is important to use an Excel spreadsheet or its equivalent for tracking your time.  For example, one of the steps is to contact people who may be a source of real estate deal transactions. That amount of time planned for that step will be more in the early part of the 90 day time line as deal flow is key to beginning the process of finding a transaction that will meet your profit goal.

The idea is to have this activity and time plan at the beginning of each week and to track your actual time spent and results of your actions. The accountability part is that this schedule is shared with your coach and if you are not using a coach, it can be shared with a business partner, spouse or a friend. Knowing someone else will be reviewing this information is a powerful motivator to keep your commitments.  This is intended to be a valuable tool and not a restraint on your life. The idea is to track chunks of time and evaluate the results.  So if you are making calls and having meetings what are the results? You are either making progress or not. If not, how you are implementing your action plan needs to be modified.

I consistently teach The Gold Formula.  The gold is in the variance and this applies to anything you intend to accomplish.  There cannot be a variance calculation without a plan. Once you have a plan you can compare that to what actually happened and most of the time there will be a variance. The variance will be positive or negative. When positive, keep doing more of it and when negative, make some adjustments.

The First Step To Building Business Revenue And Profits

People attending the classes where I teach and who join the coaching or consulting program often think there is silver bullet or magic potion for making money.

I teach audiences averaging 60 or so people all over the US and Canada how to build business profits. From this work, approximately 10% become coaching clients. I open most presentations stating that they will learn the exact formula used with those in the coaching and consulting program.

In the opening portion of every coaching or consulting engagement, I begin with  “now comes the first question that I taught in the class”. Some are still surprised when I begin following the exact process that they learned at the event. This is the first step I am giving to you, my loyal readers.

Even though I have taught them all the steps, most have not completed the first step to building business profits.  In fact I have been tracking the numbers and when I give the exact formula for building business profits, only 2% as me for the detailed report.

The Difference Between The Class and Business Coaching and Business Consulting:

The difference is the class teaches all the steps and consulting shows the client how to implement the steps.  So what is the first step?  The first step is to have a clear definition of your business that is in alignment with how you make money.  I know this seems simple but most people do not get this right the first try. The definition should be one that you can write in a few sentences and say very clearly in about 10 seconds.

ATT, IPhone, IPhone4 – Excellent Viral Marketing for Competitors

I love the IPhone. I owned the first IPhone within 2 weeks of launch and have upgraded to the 3G and then 3GS. As soon as Apple released a new model, I was there for upgrade. Not this time.

I would love to be testing the IPhone4 right now.  ATT has pushed me to the point where I don’t want to extend my contract for two years. Why….ATT’s service sucks.  It has not always sucked. In fact for well over 2 years I enjoyed my service.  Then something changed. I began reporting this situation 6 months ago.

Bottom line .. I want great service at my primary location, had it and now it is opposite that. When I discuss this with ATT the responses are amazing.  Tonight was the icing.  The lady said “the reality is that the service you are getting is what you can expect”  I asked her how much experience she had and she said “my experience level is irrelevant”. Amazing.

So I thought ..well maybe it’s me.  However, when I would make comments about my phone and dropped calls, I would hear …”that is so common with IPhone users.  So I tested that with people I know with IPhones and that is very true. All and I mean all IPhone owners I know complain of dropped calls.

I would love an IPhone4  However, ATT wins…they have worn me out and I am now waiting for Apple to expand to other carriers.  Rumors on line that will be this fall. Regardless of the timing it cannot be soon enough for me.

New IPhone4 owners I am sure you will love your new IPhone and I wish you the best with ATT service.

ATT –  you have had an amazing opportunity to dominate the market. You have benefited from Apple’s success and have not taken notes on how they lead.  Your negative goodwill accelerates. Verizon and others gotta love it. This is a great example of viral marketing for the competition.

Is it too late for ATT?  Not at all ATT could turn this around in a heart beat because customers love the IPhone and they do not like change.
